India and China join hands to empower education platform.

Huawei India felicitates Huawei Maitree Scholarship awardees

A platform for exchange of ideas between the two nations, Huawei India, leading Information and communication technology (ICT) company felicitated 16 bright minds with the scholarship as they set forth for their academic pursuits to China. This education based initiative in India was  for aspiring Indian students who have already secured admission to institutions of higher education in China.

It was held at the national capital, in Indian Habitat Centre. The students are selected after endless screening and selection by eminent panel of jury members. Students who maintained their academic track record, their scholarships were renewed along with the rest.

Dignitaries who graced the occasion along the jury memebers were Smt. Rita Chatterjee, Hon’ble Joint Secretary, School Education and Literacy, Ministry of HRD, Mr. Zhang Yan, Chinese Ambassador of India, Renowned author and youth icon Mr. Chetan Bhagat, leading educationists Shri. S.C. Vats and Dr. S. K. Garg.

Mr. Yao Weimin, VP Corporate Affairs, Huawei India stated It is easy to agree on the need for better education, but the real challenge lies in the how we are going to improve the outcomes.

Students from both the countries have benefitted immensely from this education program. The scholarship, which covers the student’s tuition fee and living expenses for the duration of his or her study in China, is up to an amount of INR 5, 00,000. A great learning experience for the students across boundaries from their interests and knowledge.

Echoing this credo of “Collaboration for Innovation and Growth”, the Huawei Maitree Scholarship was envisaged as an exciting opportunity to collaborate and academic exchange between India and China.

Mr. Shan Xin, President, Huawei India Devices congratulated the scholars and Scholarship team and said, “Huawei Maitree Scholarship is at the genesis of Indo- China collaboration. It is our humble contribution towards fostering closer understanding and appreciation of ideas, culture and society by Indians based in China and Chinese based in India. It is a matter of pride to lead that Huawei India is being recognized not only for business growth in India but also community growth.  I wish luck and great learning to all scholars her with us.”

 As committed in 2011, Huawei has slated out 16 scholarships of up to INR 5,00,000 this year for each of selected students who are pursuing academic courses in China

 In line with the previous year’s commitment, Huawei has slated out 16 scholarships of up to INR 5,00,000 this year for each of selected students who are pursuing academic courses in China.

Mr. Li Jian, the project head said “This scholarship program enables aspiring Indian students to opt for various streams, preferably in the emerging areas of science & technology, culture, social studies and development related programs in Chinese Universities. This year we received closer to 400 applications from across the country for diverse courses which clearly demonstrates the popularity of the scholarship amongst Indian Students.”

 Mr. Chetan Bhagat, Brand Ambassador, Huawei India closed the ceremony with his motivational words of wisdom and said, “It has given me immense joy to be associated with a scholarship that has emerged as a prestigious and noble cause. India is demographically one of the world’s youngest countries and its future naturally lies in the hands of its youth. With some guidance and mentoring they can, going forward play a huge role in shaping not just their future, but that of their country as well. The keen interest and large participation generated by this initiative is ample testimony to the fact that they are more than willing to take charge of their future with the support of companies like Huawei who nurture talent and invest not only in present growth but all in the intellectual capital for a brighter future. I am immensely proud to have been part of this initiative of Huawei”
