iSwifter rolls out full featured mobile Facebook app

iSwifter, the cloud-based platform that enables social games publishers to stream their games to the iPad, has announced plans to complete the Facebook experience by providing mobile users an app to do what the Facebook iPad app does not deliver all Facebook games along with photo sharing and news feed.
“theWorx for Facebook” is scheduled for release in June and will feature ads on the right side, as seen by users accessing Facebook on a PC. Games, streamed using iSwifter’s cloud-based flash streaming platform, will work directly inside theWorx including payments using FB credits. Users will have access to games and other apps through an “App Hub” in the app, and users will use iTunes in app purchases (IAP) to buy access to game streaming.
The Facebook S-1 document, filed when the company announced plans for its IPO, states that a full four percent of Facebook’s revenue comes from ads shown next to just Zynga games. Given Zynga’s market share of about 70 percent in Facebook games, approximately six percent of Facebook revenue could be associated with ads displayed next to games.
theWorx, built on the iSwifter platform, uses the cloud to stream Facebook Flash games and thus is able to display the same ads that Facebook shows on a PC screen next to the game.
“It’s clear that Facebook users are moving to mobile faster than even Facebook predicted,” says Rajat Gupta, founder of iSwifter. “theWorx is intended to benefit Facebook users who can’t play games on the Facebook iPad app or on the mobile Facebook site, as well as Facebook itself who doesn’t display their ads to these gaming users on mobile. And of course game developers should be happy too because their Facebook Flash games now come to the iPad with no porting required.”
“The need for theWorx is based on three undeniable trends. First, there will be over 50 million iPads sold in 2012; more than 50 percent of Facebook’s active users access Facebook on mobile; and mobile advertising revenue is projected to exceed $17 billion dollars by 2015,” explained Gupta. “In addition, a recent survey shows that gaming is increasingly turning into the primary use for tablets users, with nearly 25 percent of all tablet gamers paying for virtual goods.”
