MVAS company Handygo’s new app Rockstand plans to offer two million eBooks

Will be available on iPhone, Windows 8, Symbian and BlackBerry

The new e-book app, Rockstand by mobile value added services company Handygo Technologies is strategically planning to tie up with the telecom operators with an aim to sell nearly two million eBooks. The company is expected to tie its knot with two major operators soon.

This new app will soon be available on iPhone, Windows 8, Symbian and BlackBerry. Now it is only available on Android.

According to Rishi Mohan Jha, heads Handygo’s m-commerce RockASAP Retail said, the updated version of this new app will be available with text to speech option.

By February, Rockstand is aiming to offer around two million books on the shelves. Currently, it has one thousand books live on the app. The company has tied up with some regional language publishers to offer books in Kannada, Marathi and Telugu. A lot of publishers provide content to Rockstand.

Rockstand is looking ahead to make cartoons and magazines more interactive. Jha commented, “For instance if you are reading an article on Shah Rukh Khan, you can click on the magazine and see videos etc.”

If a reader wants to buy a book, then one just need to click the buy button and the amount will be deducted from the mobile balance. Though the books are copy protected but a reader can also read offline.

India has 25 million eBook users and is the second largest eBook market after US. The later has a market of 60 million. It is expected that the number of users in India will grow with the penetration of internet.
