NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Thursday revised its prepaid mobile plans to offer its subscribers unlimited access to the complete content library of OTT player Disney+ Hotstar.
The new plans priced Rs 499, Rs 699, and Rs 2,798 come with high-speed data, unlimited calling, 100 SMS/day along with a one-year subscription to Disney+ Hotstar.
Airtel is also providing Apollo 24/7 Circle 3 months membership along with free courses from Shaw Academy to its users.
With a Disney+ Hotstar subscription, users will get access to live coverage of major global sporting events, including the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and T20 World Cup, exclusive specials series, film releases, and others, Airtel said in a statement.
Airtel’s move comes after its rival Reliance Jio Reliance Jio launched five new prepaid plans that will offer complimentary a subscription to the entire content library of Disney+ Hotstar, on the back of the OTT player revising its plan and offerings in the Indian market.
The new Hotstar plans are billed annually and are priced at Rs 499, Rs 899, and Rs 1,499.
BNP Paribas senior telecoms analyst Kunal Vora estimates consumer spends on mobile services to grow by around 4-5% sequentially in the September quarter, nearly twice the levels scaled in the March quarter, FY21.
These new plans essentially enable all Disney+ Hotstar subscribers to access the complete content library.
Jio’s new plans are priced at Rs 499, Rs 666, Rs 888, and Rs 2,599 offer validity of 28 days, 56 days, 84 days, and 365 days, respectively. These plans became available for purchase from September 1.
Whereas, Airtel’s Rs 499, Rs 699, and Rs 2,798 prepaid plans provide validity of 28 days, 56 days, and 365 days, respectively.
Meanwhile, all Airtel Xstream Fiber plans above Rs 999 offer free 1-year Disney+ Hotstar Super subscription (worth Rs 899) as part of Airtel Thanks benefits.
In addition to the above plans and benefits, all Airtel users also have the added benefit of directly purchasing the Disney+Hotstar subscription of their choice directly from Airtel shop with the convenience of either getting it added to their monthly postpaid bill or upfront payment via multiple payment modes, Airtel added.
