WhatsApp recently introduced the voice chat feature for WhatsApp groups. Now a new online report suggests that the instant messaging app is rolling out a feature that adds a shortcut to open AI-powered chats from the Chats tab.
As reported by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is introducing a feature that includes a shortcut for accessing AI-powered chats directly from the Chats tab.The feature is presently available only for Android beta testers. To access the feature, the beta testers on Android need to upgrade to version number 2.23.24.26.
In September this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled a new feature enabling a select group of users to explore AI-powered chats. These chats are crafted to aid individuals in their daily tasks by offering advice and suggestions.
As per the screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp users will now notice a new button placed in the Chats tab above the icon to start a new chat. With this button, users can swiftly access AI-powered chats, enhancing the overall speed and convenience of the process. It’s crucial to highlight that, at present, AI-powered chats are exclusively available to a specific user group, and the specific date for a broader release is yet to be determined.
“By introducing a dedicated shortcut, users can quickly access AI-powered chats directly from the Chats Tab without opening the contact list. We believe that this process significantly reduces the time and effort required to initiate these specialized conversations. In addition, placing the shortcut prominently in the Chats tab ensures that users are aware of this feature and incorporate AI-assisted interactions into their regular use of the messaging app,” mentions the report.
Channel update views
In a recent development, WhatsApp has commenced the beta rollout of an Android update that introduces a feature enabling users to view the number of views for a particular channel update directly within the message bubble. This feature aims to support channel owners in assessing the reach of their updates by offering insights into viewership. It’s noteworthy that this functionality is not limited to channel owners; followers also can monitor the number of views for each channel update.
WABetaInfo noted, “This feature has the potential to enhance the user experience, offer valuable insights, and be advantageous for both individual users and organisations utilising WhatsApp Channels for broadcasting. Users gain the ability to assess the impact and reach of their messages, allowing them to identify which content resonates most with their audience.”
