NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio has launched its first 5G data pack priced at Rs 61.
The Jio Rs 61 prepaid plan will provide 6GB of high-speed 5G data, and will have the validity of the active plan, according to the listing on the telco’s website. This data pack is applicable on Jio plans priced Rs 119, Rs 149, Rs 179, Rs 199, and Rs 209.
Unlimited 5G data is applicable only in cities where Jio True 5G has been launched and the user has been invited to the Jio Welcome Offer, as per the listing.
On the other hand, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea’s plans priced at Rs 65 and Rs 58 offer 4GB and 3GB data, respectively.
Jio recently said its True 5G services have become live in 72 cities across India. The telco is aiming to cover the entire country with its 5G standalone (SA) network by December 2023. In contrast, Airtel is deploying a 5G non-standalone (NSA) network.
ET, in its January 9 edition, reported that Bharti Airtel and Jio are targeting 100-150 million mobile phone users by March 2024 for conversion to 5G as they expand their coverage and develop more consumer use cases, with ample data allowances likely to be a key factor in driving the adoption of the next-generation technology.
