NEW DELHI: Reliance Jio has rolled out a new prepaid plan of Rs 2,023 and additional benefits to its high-end Rs 2,999 prepaid plan under its ‘Happy New Year 2023’ offer, according to listing on the telecom operator’s website.
The Rs 2,023 Jio prepaid plan offers a total of 630GB data (or 2.5GB/day), along with unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS/day, and a complimentary subscription to Jio apps on new onboarding, with a validity of 252 days (28 days x 9 cycles).
The Rs 2,999 Jio prepaid plan comes with a total of 912.5GB data (75GB extra), unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS/day, and a complimentary subscription to Jio apps, with a validity of 365 days (23 days extra). The extra data and validity benefits will be provided to Jio users on the same day of recharging.
Bharti Airtel’s Rs 2,999 prepaid plan, in comparison, offers 2GB data/day, 100 SMS/day, and unlimited calls, with a validity of 365 days. Additional benefits with this plan include a subscription to Apollo 24|7 circle, cashback on FASTag recharge, and access to Hellotunes and Wynk Music.
Recently, Airtel has started offering a Disney+ Hotstar subscription with two if its existing prepaid plans priced Rs 399 and Rs 839.
Lastly, Vodafone Idea’s Rs 2,999 prepaid plan offers 850GB data, unlimited calls and 100 SMS/day, with a validity of 365 days. It also includes benefits such as Binge All Night, and access to Vi Movies & TV.
Jio and Airtel gained 1.41 million and 0.8 million mobile users respectively in October, largely at the expense of struggling Vodafone Idea Vi, which continued to suffer heavy customer losses, unable to compete effectively with its financially stronger rivals.
Vodafone Idea (Vi) lost a whopping 3.5 million mobile users in October, further shrinking its user base to 245.62 million. By contrast, Jio and Airtel user bases swelled to 421.38 million and 365.02 million respectively, as per the latest subscriber data collated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai).
