NEW DELHI: Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei continued to dominate the global telecom equipment market in the first three quarters of 2021, according to Dell’Oro Group.
The Chinese vendor nearly is as large as equipment majors Nokia and Ericsson combined together, the firm highlighted.
This is despite Huawei reeling under the impacts of the U.S. government-led clampdown.
According to the research firm, the ongoing efforts by the U.S. to curb the Chinese vendor started to become prominent in Huawei’s results, particularly outside of China.
“At the same time, Huawei continued to dominate the global market, still nearly as large as Ericsson and Nokia combined,” Dell’Oro analyst Stefan Pongratz was quoted as saying by Fierce Wireless.
According to the firm, cumulative revenues for the telecom market stood at nearly $100 billion.
Together, the top seven vendors held about 80% of the global market share.
Finnish Nokia and Swedish Ericsson each held a 15% market share, compared to Huawei’s share of 29%. ZTE (11%), Cisco (6%), Samsung (3%), and Ciena (3%) captured the remaining share.
From an overall perspective, the telecom equipment market had double-digit year-over-year growth for the first nine months of 2021.
According to the publication, Dell’Oro estimates a 9% growth in the total equipment revenues to date compared to 2020, with a 6% growth in Q3.
